Warner & Swasey redevelopment on precipice of becoming reality

A coalition of developers from throughout the state of Ohio assembled at Cleveland City Hall Friday to discuss the transformation of the abandoned Warner & Swasey building in Midtown Cleveland. A project seven years in the making, representatives from developer Pennrose LLC’s Cincinnati office, architect Moody Nolan of Columbus and Midtown Cleveland Inc. sought schematic approval for the adaptive reuse project.

Public Square info hub gets grant, design approval

Improvements to Cleveland’s Public Square took a step forward today when the City Planning Commission unanimously approved a temporary, yet robust programming hub. The hub, designed to replace tents currently used by staffers for downtown events would not only provide workers shelter and a place to store materials, but also function as a kiosk for posting event schedules and wayfinding.

McCafferty Center site to be senior housing

Affordable housing developer Pennrose, LLC. is looking to build on the success of its other Cleveland-area projects with its next venture, this time on the city’s west side. The national developer is partnering with Ohio City Incorporated (OCI) to construct a 72-unit apartment building geared towards seniors and charging rents between 30 percent and 70 percent of the area’s median income.

Bridgeworks gets green light from Landmarks

Typically, the third time’s a charm, but Bridgeworks needed more times than that to earn the approval of the Cleveland Landmarks Commission. Ultimately, the proposal passed unanimously today. The go-ahead allows developers to move forward with constructing all of the $84 million project, located at 2429 W. Superior St. in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood.
