Federal Building to be closed, agencies moved

More than 4,000 federal employees based at Downtown Cleveland’s Anthony J. Celebrezze (AJC) Federal Building, 1240 E. 9th St., are reportedly going to be moved out of the 32-story office tower to privately owned office properties downtown in the next three years, followed by AJC’s closure, according to a spokesperson for Congresswoman Shontel Brown (D-11) who opposes the sudden move.

New downtown office expansions, renovations

At the start of the new year, employers are expanding, relocating, renovating and otherwise retrofitting their office spaces. Ironically, the current and former Oswald buildings in Downtown Cleveland are the addresses where most of these investments are planned, according to public records. Downtown office tower bucks residential trend

Since actions speak louder than words, the rumors of the 22-story office tower 1100 Superior Ave. turning residential are getting shouted down. The louder message is coming from the building’s owner who is re-signing existing office tenants and attracting new ones, despite recent tenant losses and other hardships. The actions are likely the result of a short-term strategy resulting in another sale, however.
