Renovation starts on downtown’s Electric Building

With financing closed, construction work will begin in the next couple of weeks on the $40 million rehabilitation and conversion of the historic 700 Prospect Ave. office building into apartments, called The Electric Building. And now the ground-floor has the end user of its lone commercial space identified — Tom’s Watch Bar, a national chain sports bar founded in 2014.

BrandMuscle opens new Cleveland hub

The bad news is that a Downtown Cleveland employer has reduced its office footprint. The good news is the company, BrandMuscle, a mid-sized marketing technology firm, opened a new office yesterday downtown. The better news is that BrandMuscle kept Cleveland as one of its two remaining office hubs along with Chicago, while closing other offices in Austin, TX and Kansas City, MO after switching to a largely remote-work culture.

Brownfield grants reveal progress on many projects

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine today announced $88 million in state support for 123 brownfield remediation projects that will help clean up hazardous and underutilized sites throughout the state. The Ohio Department of Development is funding the awards through the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program, which is designed to clean up and prepare hazardous brownfield sites for redevelopment. The projects announced today will impact communities in 35 counties across the state.
