New details emerged today on the proposed $1.2 billion mixed-use district surrounding the Haslam Sports Group’s (HSG) proposed all-purpose, roofed stadium in the Cleveland suburb of Brook Park. HSG announced that Lincoln Property Company, a global real estate firm, will be the development partner for the Cleveland Browns’ 176-acre mixed-use entertainment district.

Another one of Lakewood’s former car dealerships on Detroit Avenue is about to come down. Next to fall is Steve Barry Buick, 16000 Detroit Ave., that closed in 2018, to be replaced by a pair of four-story apartment buildings plus a stand-alone bank branch. Developers of the proposed Downtown Lakewood mixed-use development said it was a mix of good and bad news that a grocery store chain backed out of the project. The good news is that the developers can proceed with a previous plan to offer a larger public plaza facing Detroit Avenue. The bad news was that revising the plans to accommodate the grocer cost the developers eight months of time and inflation in delivering the $100-plus-million project.

In a data-heavy report released today, Downtown Cleveland, Inc. (DCI) outlined its achievements in continuing the recovery of Cleveland’s business and hospitality center and one of Cuyahoga County’s fastest-growing residential areas. The data, contained in the 2023 Downtown Cleveland Economic Development Report, says the recovery of Cleveland’s central business district is outpacing that of its peer cities in Ohio and the Great Lakes region.

Two historic buildings are proposed to be torn down for a 16-story, mixed-use development in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood, despite information that financing, including the use of air rights, for the high-rise is still being finalized. A demolition permit application was filed Aug. 4 by architects for Bridgeworks LLC with the city’s Building Department following recent approvals of the demolitions by the city’s Landmarks Commission and a design review committee. But the approvals by those two panels in the City Planning Commission were made with the presumption that the overall Bridgeworks development would be carried out.
