Parking garages aren’t usually all that exciting. But one planned for the Flats’ West Bank might be the most exciting parking garage in Cleveland in 15 years.

In 2005, the nine-level 515 Euclid garage was designed and built with the promise of a future high-rise atop it. That garage ended up attracting Stark Enterprises which built the 19-story, $95 million Beacon apartment tower. Beacon saw construction start in 2017; it opened last year.

Sherwin-Williams HQ may be city’s fourth-tallest tower

Sherwin-Williams’ (SHW) proposed headquarters tower on Cleveland’s Public Square may be a little taller than previously reported. In fact, it could end up being the city’s fourth-tallest skyscraper. Conceptual designs for a new 57-unit, market-rate apartment development in the Hough neighborhood were approved by the City of Cleveland’s Euclid Corridor Design Review Committee. It was the first design-review meeting held since the start of the coronavirus crisis two months ago.

Cuyahoga River’s last grain mill to close; mill’s fate uncertain

The last grain mill left on the Cuyahoga River is due to close in July, leaving 24 workers to wonder about their employment future and the fate of the mill property. Those lost jobs include seven trucking and two railroad jobs who serve a mill that’s stood in the 1600 block of Merwin Avenue for more than 150 years.

Lakewood weighs Plan B for hospital redevelopment

Starting today, the City of Lakewood will begin the process of salvaging the redevelopment of the city-owned Lakewood Hospital site.

That redevelopment was left in limbo when Mayor Meghan George last week announced that the city and its first-choice developer had reached an irreconcilable impasse over the site clean-up costs. Carnegie Management and Development Corp. had terminated its agreement with the city.
