Canon Healthcare USA, Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc., today announced its acquisition of an established building for its headquarters, adjacent to Cleveland Clinic’s main campus in Cleveland’s University Circle district. In the midst of a global pandemic, state, local and Cleveland Clinic officials in 2021 announced the Cleveland Innovation District to expand health care research. Today, as part of that initiative, Cleveland Clinic unveiled the first phase of its expanded research facilities and announced plans to launch major construction of two new research buildings. The state-of-the-art facilities will be dedicated to scientific investigation and will significantly increase laboratory research space on Cleveland Clinic’s main campus.

Community development corporation Famicos Foundation proposes to build two buildings comprised mostly of apartments at two locations along Superior Avenue in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood. The two projects would develop underutilized properties along a once-vibrant street lined with vacant land and abandoned buildings, to provide quality workforce and senior housing that helps draw University Circle’s energy a little farther north.
